Walking Dead Cobalt Family Dynamic
By Ernie Padaon
The script for the Walking Dead Cobalt has been leaked and we learned more about the family concept that they are going for in the series.
The script for the Walking Dead spinoff pilot episode was leaked and the people of Bleeding Cool got a hold of it. They shared some of the content that they found from it and we have learned that the pilot will introduce a broken family. The interesting part of this family is that their character names do not match what we were told about in the past.

Here is a snippet about the family from Bleeding Cool:
"And we meet a rather disfunctional family – an older one than Rick’s, here are a mother and a soon-to-be-stepfather, teachers Madison and Travis, and their older teenage children, Alicia and Ian, Travis’ ex Liza and their teenage son Christopher, in a family about to break apart. Drugs, illness, self-harm, set in Los Angeles, this is not so much a nuclear family as a dirty bomb. Rick’s family were torn apart, this family are there from the beginning."
Madison and Travis? I thought the characters were named Sean and Nancy. Here is the listing of the characters that we have been hearing about:
"SEAN CABRERA | A Latino male in his early 40s, Sean is a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.CODY CABRERA | Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.NANCY TOMPKINS | A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.NICK TOMPKINS | Nancy’s screwed up teenage son. He’s too old to stay home, too scared to flee.ASHLEY TOMPKINS | Nancy’s mostly level-headed teenage daughter. Her ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother’s failures. She loves her mom but it’s time to get out of Dodge.ANDREA CHAPMAN | A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea — yep, another Andrea! — has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage."
It seems that the roles are similar but the names are changed. It is possible that the names were just placeholders for their real names for the show. We have seen it before with the Walking Dead series.
If there is just a name swap, then it sounds like our main characters will be broken family. Two different families that will be working to grow together to become one family with teenage children as the apocalypse strikes. The ex-wife still is part of the story as well. How will all of this work out?
We will see how this whole dynamic works as the apocalypse hits. Will they work together as a family or will they fight? It is an interesting concept and we will be hoping that it turns into a great story for us to follow along.
