Fear The Walking Dead Hasn’t Been Picked Up Yet
By Adam Carlson
Lately, there has been a lot of speculation about The Walking Dead’s spinoff or companion series. We now know some of the casting for the show and that it is set to take place in California, but one of the biggest things about the show hasn’t been answered yet. Will it be on tv?
Like most fans, I had assumed that Fear The Walking Dead would air on AMC while The Walking Dead was on break. However, that status seems to be up in the air right now as it was recently discovered that the pilot episode has been finished, but the series hasn’t yet been picked up by the network.
The surprising news came in an interview with Gale Anne Hurd (Executive Producer, The Walking Dead & Fear The Walking Dead) that was recently posted on The Hollywood Reporter’s website:
"“Hurd noted that she had just finished the pilot to a Dead spinoff on Feb. 6, but, ‘We haven’t been picked up to series yet.”‘"
Based on the success of The Walking Dead on AMC, it’s hard to imagine that Fear The Walking Dead wouldn’t be picked up. However, the fact that it is a prequel of sorts to the popular AMC show and will feature much, much less of the zombies, that could be a turn-off for some suitors.
Despite that, fans of The Walking Dead and those looking forward to Fear The Walking Dead shouldn’t get concerned yet. There is plenty of time for the new show to get picked up, whether it is AMC or another channel. I just assumed it was fairly automatic that AMC would want to keep anything “The Walking Dead” on their channel.
More news about the future of Fear The Walking Dead will most likely come soon, and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date on any changes we hear about.
