The Walking Dead: Dead Reckoning Mobile Game Review
By Adam Carlson
The Walking Dead: Dead Reckoning is a free adventure game that was released on February 28, 2015 where you play the role of Shane Walsh just as the outbreak is hitting the streets. It chronicles Lori Grimes visiting Rick in the hospital but is more the story of the police handing a couple people at the station or in homes that may or may not be infected.
The game plays like an interactive comic book. Each panel of the comic helps tell the story of Shane’s day at work dealing with strangers and interacting with infected or dangerous people. What’s great is that you can play the game however you like. If you don’t like a character, you can choose to let them die or place them in situations where you know that they’ll be a goner. You can choose dialogue and actions for Shane and make him a hero or a villain. The choices are yours.
Overall, the game is quite short. If you’re a quick reader, you can fly through this “choose your own adventure” type game in about 15 minutes. Still, it’s interesting to see the start of the outbreak through the eyes of Shane Walsh and try to deal with some of the issues that he might have had during that time.
Despite that, I had a fun time playing this short game and would recommend it for most fans of The Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead: Dead Reckoning is available for most mobile devices and can also be played on the AMC website. Be sure to check it out if you need a quick fix of The Walking Dead and enjoy choose your own adventure style stories.
Hopefully, more short games like this will be made from the point of view of other characters on The Walking Dead.
