Are Sexy Zombies Good For The Walking Dead’s Spinoff?
By Adam Carlson
On The Walking Dead, we’ve seen some of the most disgusting zombies die in gruesome ways. While the gore factor might still remain, the concept of the walkers with flesh falling off their bones might not exist in the spinoff show that has already been ordered for two seasons by AMC.
In a recent interview with E!, one of the stars of The Walking Dead’s spinoff was asked what should have been a humorous question but instead got me wondering quite a few things about what the new series would be like. Here is what raised my interest.
E! Online made the following statement to the show’s co-star Kim Dickens during the interview: “I wonder if the zombies in LA will look different because of all the plastic surgery.” Here is how she replied:
"[Laughs.] Yeah, we’re going to have sexy zombies! All I know is there are more zombies that need killing.”"
Kim Dickens could very well have been joking about there being “sexy zombies” on The Walking Dead’s spinoff show, but she brings up a great question. Would the walkers closer to the beginning of the outbreak be more human in appearance than the flesh rotting zombies that we’ve become accustomed to?
And would that “human” appeal make those walkers much harder to deal with since they could be seen even more as people and less as monsters?
It’s going to be interesting to see if there will be walkers in bikinis or speedos in The Walking Dead’s spinoff, but I don’t think that would increase the value of the show. In fact, it may even be distracting to those that are trying to be entertained by the storylines of the new series.
What do you guys think? Would you want to see “sexy” zombies in the world of The Walking Dead? Or do you feel that would undermine the tone and the feel of the series? Let me know in the comments below.
