The Walking Dead: Is Davidson Actually Dawn Lerner?
By Adam Carlson
During the season 5 finale of The Walking Dead, a character named “Davidson” was referenced by Aaron when talking to Daryl Dixon during one of their runs. Although it was something only done in passing, what was said has stuck with many fans of the show. They are wondering just who Davidson is and why talking about him is important.
Fans of The Walking Dead’s comic book series already know a bit about Davidson and his really interesting story despite never really seeing his face. His full name is Alexander Davidson and he was the best friend of Douglas Monroe. He was also an important person before the apocalypse, as he worked as a security liaison for the White House.
He actually was a very prominent figure in the Alexandria Safe-Zone. In fact, he was the founder and leader of the community prior to being overthrown by the residents and exiled. However, the way he ran the Alexandria was similar to what was going on during AMC’s The Walking Dead during the storylines at Grady Memorial Hospital.
The power went to his head and he made arrangements inside the walls of Alexandria that allowed things like sexual assault, intimidation, and manipulation. Much like the leader of Grady Memorial Hospital did. This leads me to believe that the story that was told for Dawn Lerner in the Atlanta was used to tell Davidson’s storyline without using crazy flashbacks or messing up the timeline. Although Dawn was eventually killed by Daryl Dixon, Davidson has no real death in the comics as a walker’s body was burnt and the residents of Alexandria were told it was him.
The icing on the cake for the Davidson/Dawn theory on The Walking Dead is that the boiling point for Davidson’s downfall involved a character named Beth. That’s quite a coincidence, isn’t it? Because of that, I don’t think that AMC’s The Walking Dead will experience much of a storyline involving Davidson since a story very similar to his has been told so recently. Instead, I’m looking at the popular show using him as a part of one of the upcoming rival groups in the future.
Let me know what you think of my crazy theory. Am I way off base with this or do I make some valid points that could be true? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
