Fear The Walking Dead Will Not Answer The Big Question
By Adam Carlson
With The Walking Dead’s universe expanding to include the new show titled “Fear The Walking Dead”, many fans are hoping or expecting to get a glimpse into one question that has eluded the comic books, the hit AMC show and all the video games involved in its universe. That question is as following:
What is the cause of the outbreak on The Walking Dead?
Sadly, we’re not going to find out the answer to that question during Fear The Walking Dead. In a panel discussion held at the National Association of Broadcasting show in Las Vegas today, The Walking Dead’s creator Robert Kirkman was asked about whether or not that question would be addressed during the show. Here is what he told the people in attendance according to Cleveland.com:
"“It’s not the priority in ‘Walking Dead.’ It’s not the priority in ‘Fear the Walking Dead.’ It’s not about fixing this world, and it’s not about learning what the cause is.”"
So, that’s kind of sad. But it is pretty cool that we’re going to get to see what life was like during the initial stages of the disease’s outbreak on Fear The Walking Dead. But speaking of the title of that new program, Kirkman also defended the decision to go with the fearful title:
"“You don’t want to call it The Walking Dead: Los Angeles, you know? That would be so easy, so obvious. It’s the exact wrong thing for what we want to do.”"
Personally, I’m fine with the name Fear The Walking Dead. I like it more than tacking on a location or going with a title that doesn’t provide recognition with The Walking Dead’s universe. Still, that name still has more than enough fans groaning in disgust.
Be sure to watch for the series premiere of Fear The Walking Dead later this year and watch for The Walking Dead to return for season 6 this fall.
