‘Dead-End Con’ Was A Success For Lynchburg, Virginia

Even though there was a major fan event involving actors from The Walking Dead going on in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend, there was a nice turnout for “Dead-End Con”.

If you’re not familiar with Dead-End Con, here are some of the details.  The event was held at the Kirkley Hotel in Lynchburg, Virginia on April 17, 18, and 19 of 2015 and featured some of the actors who have appeared on The Walking Dead.

Unlike other event with The Walking Dead’s cast members, this event allowed for a much more hands-on approach to meeting them.  In addition to photos and autographs, fans of these characters actually had opportunities like sitting down with the actors to a meal and actually have conversations with them.

Neil Brown Jr. (who played Guillermo on The Walking Dead) spoke with ABC’s WSET-TV 13 about his experience at Dead-End Con this weekend:

"“We had a lot of families come out and spend a lot of time with. Some people have just been here the whole time with us and we’ve been hanging out, talking, having great conversation.” Brown said. “It’s very humbling, cause sometimes you get into your own head and you don’t realize that outside of your own head that there are people that really look up to what you are doing and they see you as more of a celebrity than you see yourself so it was very warming and humbling and just reminds me to keep going and keep doing it,”"

In addition to the guests, they offer some great activities like a beauty contest for zombies, face painting, and a marathon of episodes of The Walking Dead.  As of this moment, it’s not sure whether or not Dead-End Con will become an annual event, but I’m hoping it can gain some more notoriety because it seems like a fantastic alternative to the bigger conventions.

Huge congratulations go out to Dead-End Con on a successful show this weekend!
