The Walking Dead: What’s Next For Abraham In Season 6?
By Adam Carlson
The Walking Dead has such a great group of characters that each contribute in different ways. One of the characters that has slowly endeared himself to fans of the show is Abraham Ford.
When Abraham was introduced, he was a one-dimensional character. It seemed as though his only focus was protecting Eugene and getting him to Washington so that he could either provide a safe haven or maybe even develop a cure for the walker outbreak.
Along the way, we got to learn a lot more about the former military man as well as hear him come up with some of the weirdest catchphrases we’ve heard on The Walking Dead. We saw him adapt pretty well to life in Alexandria and become the foreman of the construction crew there.
But what is next for Abraham now that season 5 of The Walking Dead is in the books? Let’s take a dive into the pages of the comic book series to see what could be in store for him:
***Warning: Comic Book Spoilers Below***
In the comics, Abraham continues to struggle to fit in socially with the members of Alexandria. He begins to become a bit of a ‘walker ambassador” to the people of the community by showing them how to deal with walkers and give them some tips on survival.
During one of the big walker attacks, a man named Bruce that works with Abraham gets bit by walkers and Abe is forced to put him out of his misery. This upset Holly (Francine on the show), and the two share a charged embrace, ending with Abraham telling her that they can’t be seen like that in fear that people would learn of their relationship.
Abraham later discovers a crack in the walls and that the beams supporting the walls of Alexandria are not rooted in the ground well, which causes a huge safety hazard. Instead of repairing the problem with concrete as Abraham wants to do, the group instead just parks a jeep on top of the beam to hold it in place. That didn’t hold as the wall came crumbling down under the pressure of a group of walkers.
The former foreman of the construction crew, Tobin, was killed by the walkers before the survivors (including Abraham) showed up to take care of business. During the chaos, Abraham nearly kills Rosita before they are all pushed back into the houses of Alexandria. After a couple crazy incidents happen, Abraham is inspired to leave the house with a couple other survivors to fight the walkers, which eventually succeeds.
When people are able to leave their homes, they find out that the walker attack did much more damage than they thought to both the structure of Alexandria and the survivors in the community. However, they have Abraham to thank, at least in part, for being able to leave their homes once again.
What do you guys think of what could happen next for Abraham? Do you think they’ll change some of his story for AMC’s The Walking Dead? If so, what would you like to see done differently? Let me know in the comments below.
