A Walking Dead Day Trip: The Big Zombie Tours
By Susie Graham
Do you live near Atlanta? Will you be in Atlanta for a business trip or family vacation? If you will have a Saturday or Sunday free and you are a Walking Dead fan, you might want to check into the Big Zombie Tours run each Saturday and Sunday and even on some weekdays by Atlanta Movie Tours. There are two tours appropriately named Big Zombie Tour and Big Zombie Tour 2. Big Zombie Tour begins at 10 a.m. from Atlanta. Big Zombie Tour 2 begins at 2:30 p.m. from Senoia. Each is a 3-hour tour so you can do both.
The Big Zombie Tour takes place in Atlanta and highlights the hospital, the Vatos’ camp, the roof where Merle was handcuffed, the Jackson Street bridge and possibly the CDC. Big Zombie Tour 2 highlights Seasons 2, 3 and 4 including Morgan’s apartment from Clear and Woodbury. The tours are always changing, but promise exciting locations for true Walking Dead fans. The reviews are quite impressive. The cost is $65 per ticket and all of the details and FAQs can be found on the website.
Both tours take place on luxury coaches that take visitors from place to place. The busses include TV screens to prepare tourists for the sites with Walking Dead clips. The tour guides are all knowledgeable former walkers or extras from the show with stories to share. These tours seem to be an exciting day trip for Walking Dead fans.
All of the information here is from the website; I haven’t been on the tours yet. Interestingly, I bought a ticket last February when I was supposed to go to Atlanta for a visit to The Ron Clark Academy for my teaching job. That weekend was the freak ice-storm in Atlanta and my trip was cancelled. Usually, the Zombie Tour doesn’t give refunds or exchanges, but they graciously gave me a gift certificate for a future tour. So I may one day be able to write a review of The Big Zombie Tour!
