The Walking Dead is a worldwide phenomenon that has become one of the most popular television shows of all time.  Because of this success, the popular program that spawned from an unlikely comic book has turned into an empire of video games, action figures, trading cards, and much, much more.

In fact, with the universe of The Walking Dead still expanding, there are other things constantly reminding us of how immersed the world is with it.  One of the more under-the-radar projects is a documentary called “The Walkers Among Us” that chronicles the rise in popularity of the hit television show.

The documentary premiered on April 25, 2015 in Woodbridge, Illinois on two screens of the 12 screen theatre and focuses on the fandom surrounding The Walking Dead.  According to the Putnam Sentinel, there were cast members, fans of the series, directors and writers, and even a local graphic artist on hand for the event.

Here is a teaser trailer for “The Walkers Among Us” from the official YouTube account of the project’s filmmakers, Cristian Macht:

As you can tell from the video, The Walking Dead and everything surrounding it has become a big part of popular culture.  From cosplaying at Wizard World events to tweeting your favorite actors and telling them how much you love them, it has consumed the imagination of many of The Walking Dead’s biggest fans and even some of the more casual fans hoping to get in on the madness.

It’s that kind of excitement that “The Walkers Among Us” focuses on trying to bring to the big screen in their documentary.  And from the way it sounds, the documentary was a hit with everyone in attendance.  That shouldn’t be too big of a surprise, since it seems like everything that The Walking Dead touches turns to gold.
