More Details Emerge On Overkill’s The Walking Dead Video Game
By Adam Carlson
It’s been a while since we’ve checked in on the video game for The Walking Dead that is scheduled to be made by the company Overkill for release in 2016. Although at first we had no real gameplay video or details, it was still great to get excited about a game based on The Walking Dead other than the great ones released by Telltale Games.
Although Overkill’s game looks to be much different from the previous ones from Telltale, there seem to be plenty of reasons to look forward to their The Walking Dead game. And now, with some more details emerging thanks to the folks over at IGN, we know a little more about what to expect on this game and how we can play it.
In the article on IGN’s website, they dropped the information that Overkill’s game will be playable on the PC, Xbox One and PS4. Also, Overkill’s parent company Starbreeze recently reached an agreement with 505 Games to publish the game. The two companies have previously worked together on the hit game series Payday on PC.
Be sure to check out this video from IGN explaining the rest of the things that we currently know about Overkill’s The Walking Dead game.
Overkill will be working with The Walking Dead’s creator Robert Kirkman on the game, who had this to say about it in a recent IGN interview:
"“I’m a huge fan of what Overkill and what Starbreeze have been able to do with PayDay 2,” Kirkman said. “It’s just an amazing co-operative game and I’m excited to be able to announce that Skybound is partnering with Overkill to make a Walking Dead game. I’m happy to say that it’s the co-op game that all of the Walking Dead fans have been waiting for.”"
I tend to believe Robert Kirkman when he talks about things like this. He usually doesn’t endorse things unless he believes in them or even put his stamp of approval on anything he doesn’t agree with. However, the idea of a cooperative game set in the world of The Walking Dead is something that should appeal to many gamers.
I know it appeals to me greatly, since I’m both a fan of The Walking Dead and am an avid gamer.
