Scott M. Gimple: The Walking Dead’s Chad Coleman and Seth Gilliam Are ‘Still Family’

There has been a lot of talk recently about two actors on AMC’s The Walking Dead that put themselves in situations that drew an awful lot of attention to themselves.  Luckily for them, it sounds as though Scott M. Gimple and the crew of the popular zombie drama are willing to support them through these incidents.

As you may have heard already, Chad L. Coleman (The Walking Dead’s Tyreese) had an incident on a subway that involved some hearsay about what the actual series of events were.  There is some debates as to whether the incident was racially motivated or if it was just people not respecting others’ personal space, but either way, Coleman’s tirade was captured by the cell phone of another passenger on the train.

On the other hand, Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel on The Walking Dead) was caught driving well over the speed limit while legally intoxicated and being in possession of other drugs.  This incident happened quite close to the date when filming for The Walking Dead’s sixth season began and it raised a lot of questions about the future of Gilliam’s character on the show.

However bad as these situations were for Coleman and Gilliam, it sounds as though at least showrunner Scott M. Gimple has their back.  In a recent video released by TMZ, the paparazzi chased down Gimple walking the city streets and questioned him about the recent incidents involving the two stars.

Here is the video of that encounter:

The key word in this whole video is family.  That’s the impression that I’ve always gotten from the cast and crew of AMC’s The Walking Dead and it continued to ring true when the words came straight from the mouth of showrunner Scott M. Gimple.  It’s that kind of support and atmosphere that has helped The Walking Dead’s cast and crew as well as the fan base all bond together.

Personally, I made a mistake in my life similar to the one that Seth Gilliam made and I ended up losing a lot of the things that were really important to me because of it.  I lost my job, my home, my driver’s license and a lot of respect in the community where I live because of it.

If not for the support of my family to take me in and help me get back on my feet, I wouldn’t be sitting here writing this story.  Thanks to them and the willingness to change on my part, I’m currently approaching three years of sobriety and have pieced my life back together.

Family is the most important thing in life.  It’s even more important when you understand that family doesn’t always mean blood relatives, but includes all those who care greatly for you and want what is best for you.  Hopefully, The Walking Dead’s Chad L. Coleman and Seth Gilliam can get past their issues and appreciate those that are helping and supporting them: their Walking Dead Family.
