‘Silent Hills’ Petition to Konami Gets Over 127,000 Signatures
By Adam Carlson
Following the news of the cancellation of Konami’s new ‘Silent Hills’ video game, an ocean of disappointment swept over video game fans around the world. The Silent Hill series of games is one of the more notable in the gaming genre, spawning multiple games, live action films and animated features. Anticipation was high for this new entry and the news of it being canceled surprised many.

However, it didn’t take long for a petition to show up on Change.Org asking Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro to continue working on the project despite it being shelved indefinitely. The petition has been a success so far, with over 127,000 signatures being attached as of this writing with many more likely to come.
Fans of The Walking Dead should be interested in this game since it was set to star a character based on Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon on the hit AMC television show. He was to lend his image and his voice to the character.
Here is the plea included in the petition:
"Hearing the cancellation of one of the most anticipated horror games is about the most heartbreaking thing horror fans had to swallow this year.Since the first sight of the P.T Demo it was instant love, and it burned into the minds of everyone that this had to release at some point.Although the reasons are not yet announced I am begging you along with countless others: Please continue the Development on Silent Hills, if the issue is money related, we would love to see a Crowdfunding campaign like Kickstarter to ensure you are getting all the financial help there is! We´d love to see it happen at some point and want to thank you for all the great games you have released so far!"
If money is the issue, it sounds as though there is plenty enough support from fans worldwide to fund the project. If they were questioning the interest in the ‘Silent Hills’, they shouldn’t have to worry about that too much after seeing the overwhelming support this petition has received. But there is the chance that it could be a completely different issue that has pushed the development of the show to the back burner.
No matter what the issue is, I’m hopeful that Konami, Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro will re-evaluate their decision to cancel Silent Hills. This game looked to be a work of beauty and it would be a shame if it were never able to be released.
