Fear The Walking Dead Production Video Released
By Adam Carlson
Anticipation for Fear The Walking Dead is growing and with each morsel of information that we get on the show, it feels as though the companion to AMC’s insanely popular zombie drama The Walking Dead is getting closer and closer to airing.
Thanks to the folks at SpoilerTV, we’ve learned that filming of Fear The Walking Dead has shifted from California to Vancouver. While that means that things are getting hot and heavy in the production of the series, it also means that the the next taste that fans get of walkers is inching nearer.
In a recent video uploaded to the official AMC YouTube account, The Walking Dead’s creator Robert Kirkman, along with Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, and executive producer Dave Erickson discussed the appeal of Fear The Walking Dead, how they’re hoping that the fan base will respond to the new program and the expectations that accompany being attached to a global sensation like AMC’s The Walking Dead.
Here’s the video:
Personally, I’m having a hard time keeping my expectations in check while also understanding that this is a series that will need to stand on its own merit. With the cast of Fear The Walking Dead including notable accomplished actors like Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam Carey and Elizabeth Rodriguez.
The story will take place in the same universe as AMC’s The Walking Dead but will occur at an earlier point in time. Because of that, I don’t feel like that there should be much trouble getting fans to understand the concepts of survival and togetherness that are already established in the The Walking Dead.
The setting of California seems to have some people worried, but I don’t think it’ll matter. I think the same kind of outcry would have happened for The Walking Dead when fans found out the show would be set around Georgia if they didn’t have the comic books for resources.
But that is the big question. Will Fear The Walking Dead be able to stand on its own without the help of great source material like The Walking Dead’s comic book series? Or will fans find it refreshing to have a show where absolutely anything can happen and there is no precedent set?
We’ll have to wait until Summer to find out.
