AMC’s The Walking Dead Named ‘Most Bingeworthy Show’

At last night’s 2015 Critics’ Choice Awards, very few folks expected AMC’s hit show The Walking Dead to bring home any awards.  While fans seems to love watching the popular zombie drama, it always seems to be overlooked when it comes to award shows and other honors.

That is why it was surprising that The Walking Dead actually won something.

The Walking Dead was only nominated for one award, so the odds were slim to begin with.  Some of the best actors on the show like Melissa McBride and Andrew Lincoln once again did not get recognized for their great effort, however the show itself was placed into an interesting category that I didn’t know existed.

“Bingeworthy” isn’t a word as far as I know, but I still understand what it means.  There have been plenty of times that I’ve sat down in front of the television to give a show a try, but ended up watching multiple episodes in a row.  With all the marathons of The Walking Dead and the ability to stream episodes on Netflix and other sites, AMC’s popular show is available for fans to watch at any time.

It is easy to consider The Walking Dead to be “Bingeworthy”, but there were some other outstanding programs that were competing for the award.  Here is a list of the other great shows that were nominated:

THE BINGEWORTHY AWARD

  • Orange Is the New Black
  • Game of Thrones
  • The Walking Dead
  • Empire
  • Vikings
  • American Horror Story

Congratulations go out to AMC, The Walking Dead’s cast and crew, as well as the fans who have helped to make The Walking Dead such a worldwide phenomenon.  To have a show about zombies that just finished its fifth season come away with an award honoring how much people love to watch it shows just how outstanding it is.

Hopefully, other awards shows will take notice of The Walking Dead like the Critics’ Choice Awards has.  But that might be asking a bit much.  For now, I’ll just start another binge watching of The Walking Dead on Netflix.
