The Walking Dead Season 6: What’s Next For Michonne?
By Adam Carlson
Michonne is one of the most popular characters on The Walking Dead. Watching her dispatch of the undead swiftly and silently with her sword is a thing of beauty. Plus, we’ve gotten to see a much emotionally invested and humanized version of “the samurai” as the character, and the show, evolved.
When we left off on season 5 of The Walking Dead, we weren’t quite sure what was next for Michonne. She seems to want to be a major part of life in the Alexandria Safe-Zone, but recent events have reminded her that she can’t let her guard down, even when within the secure walls of the community.
So what is in store for Michonne during season 6 of The Walking Dead? A glimpse into the comics might be able to answer that question for us. So let’s take a dive into the mind and pages of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics to see what might happen.

Sadly, Michonne doesn’t have much of a role at this point in the comics. She has a bit of an altercation with Morgan, who has come to terms with the passing of his son Duane, but she hasn’t yet achieved that kind of forgiveness. Instead, she and him seem to butt heads on just about every topic until Morgan is bit by a walker and Michonne amputates his arm and rushes him to Rick’s house.
Morgan doesn’t take to the bit and amputation well. Michonne stays by his side during his last moments, pleading for his forgiveness for her inability to express herself. After Morgan passes, she uses her sword to impale him in order to prevent him from turning into one of the undead.
Also, Michonne is part of the small group that attempts to help Carl after he is accidentally shot in the eye by Douglas Monroe by “camouflaging” herself in walker blood and guts.
Otherwise, there isn’t much to expect from her. It seems like she should be play a bit of a heroic role after struggling to be able to express herself. That would fit in well with the character that AMC’s The Walking Dead has built for her.
What do you guys think? Would you be happy to see Michonne’s character doing these things during season 6? Or would you rather see something else happen for her? Let me know in the comments below.
