With the recent news of a big announcement looming for Telltale’s game series based on The Walking Dead, it can be easy to overlook news about a game series that is set to be released in 2016.  However, there has been some new information released about Overkill’s The Walking Dead game that could change the way gamers see The Walking Dead.

So far, we don’t know a ton about Overkill’s game.  In fact, many details of the game are still a complete mystery.  But thanks to IGN, we now know that Starbreeze Studios, a parent company of Overkill, is in negotiations to use the Valhalla game engine in their future release.

Here is what IGN had to say about the deal that is likely going down:

"“Starbreeze Studios, parent company of Overkill, is in the process of buying the Valhalla game engine for use in its upcoming Walking Dead game, among other things…Valhalla, which Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint calls a ‘powerful future proofed engine,’ is VR-ready and still in development.”"

There has seriously never been a better time to be a fan of The Walking Dead.  With the show going into its 6th season this fall, a spinoff on the way, Telltale having an amazing game series, the popular comic book series and now Overkill’s game on the way, there is no reason for fans not to be excited about the future of the franchise.

Hopefully, more news will be released soon about Overkill’s project, but for now we can be happy to know that a lot of time and effort is being put in to making this a quality title for fans of the series and survival horror games to enjoy.
