Jon Bernthal Hopes To Help End Pit Bull Stereotypes

There is a lot of excitement regarding The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal recently.  Not only is he known across the rabid fan base of The Walking Dead as the polarizing Shane Walsh, but now he’s been cast as The Punisher for the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix.

Jon Bernthal is known as being a very charitable man, being unselfish with his time and money as well as his celebrity status.  When he has a cause he firmly believes in, he is willing to do what it takes to get information out about those topics and spread the word about what can be done to help them.

That’s exactly what is going on now with a cause that is important to Bernthal.  He’s a family man.  He’s got a wife, child and two dogs.  And those dogs just happen to be Pit Bulls.

There are a lot of negative stereotypes surrounding Pit Bulls.  They have grown an unwarranted reputation as being unruly and wild dogs that are vicious and willing to attack at a moment’s notice.  However, those misconceptions are something that Jon Bernthal is willing to take a stand about.

Here is a video from Vimeo showing Bernthal explaining the cause:

The Majority Project is a great program to help eliminate the negative stereotypes of Pit Bulls and put the responsibility of pet ownership back onto the individuals who make the commitments to raise the animals.  The photos that are taken for the project could be used in a future public service announcement that includes Jon Bernthal.
