Overkill’s The Walking Dead Game Gets New Trailer
By Adam Carlson
There has been a lot of excitement recently surrounding virtual reality software, Starbreeze Entertainment and Overkill. Luckily for fans of The Walking Dead, that is all great news, as a new trailer for Overkill’s The Walking Dead video game was released at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo.
The trailer seems to be composed of mostly cutscenes, but that is expected from a game that is so early in the development phase. Still, some of the moments in the trailer seem so intense and interesting that it’s hard not to get excited about this game.
Here is the video from the GamesHQ YouTube account. Enjoy!
There are some very memorable moments from this trailer. The woman at 9 seconds in with an intense look of horror on her face that cues fans in to the horrors that await the player. The gore of a zombie taking a huge bite of a a human’s neck proves that the threat from the zombies is real. And the huge scale of the lengths that the people are willing to go to in order to defend themselves from the undead really helps to set the tone for what should be an intense cooperative first person shooter.
The immediate response from the trailer is the game could be a lot like another video game series from the past where the undead are killed. The four protagonists standing behind the logo brings forth an idea that this game could be a lot like the Left 4 Dead series. However, given that the game is made by the same folks responsible for the Payday games, it would be a better bet to say that Overkill’s The Walking Dead will more closely resemble those games.
We should get a lot more information about Overkill’s The Walking Dead game as it gets closer to the 2016 scheduled release date on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. In the meantime, we’ll do our best to keep you up to date on any tidbits that we hear about this interesting new game here on Undead Walking.
