The Walking Dead Season 6: Will There Be A ‘Civil War’?

During the season 5 finale of The Walking Dead, there was a noticeable shift in power within the walls of Alexandria. As we all know, a shift in power isn’t something that can be taken lightly.  Not only does it impact the structure at the top of the organization, but the people living within the structure will also have to conform to the new leadership structure.

The biggest shift in power recently on The Walking Dead occurred when Deanna Monroe gave Rick Grimes the go-ahead to execute Pete following accidentally killing Reg.  The community was already frustrated with Pete being abusive toward Jessie and the brawl that happened between Rick and Pete in the streets of Alexandria, but Deanna allowing Rick to break from the traditions of Alexandria shows a transfer of power of sorts.

In the comics, following the death of Pete, Douglas Monroe essentially passes on the leadership of the community to Rick Grimes.  While that transfer was made rather quickly,  But now, Alexandria will have to adapt.  Although there is a bit of an uprising later on in the comics, it’s likely that the biggest conflict during The Walking Dead’s sixth season will involve ideologies.

It’s the return of Morgan Jones that should set things off in Alexandria.  His new non-violent approach to survival is likely to clash with how Rick Grimes handles his issues.  Over the course of five seasons of The Walking Dead, Rick has killed twenty human beings on-screen while Morgan wouldn’t even kill the member of The Wolves that was threatening his life in the season 5 finale.

MTV.com recently released an article that described the upcoming conflict as a “Civil War”.  Basically, they said that believers of each individual’s ideologies could band together and create a large conflict within the community.

From the looks of the promotional poster from 2015 Wizard World San Diego Comic Con International, their prediction of a “Civil War” might not be far off.  The two friends will have to fight to find a compromise if they want to coexist in Alexandria.  However, getting the residents of Alexandria to comply with these compromises might be more difficult than expected.
