The Walking Dead Wins Big At The 2015 Saturn Awards

The Walking Dead is one of those shows that is always very popular with fans, but never seems to win many awards.  However, that all changed at the 2015 Saturn Awards, where AMC’s zombie drama netted 7 nominations and cashed in on 3 of those opportunities.

Those three awards also represented some of the biggest categories for a television show that were available at the Saturn awards. Although some members of The Walking Dead’s cast (such as Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus and Emily Kinney) walked away empty-handed, it was great to see the AMC show being recognized for a great fifth season.

The cast and crew even took the opportunity to send out a tweet from the Saturn Awards.  This one came from the account of Melissa McBride, who plays Carol Peletier on The Walking Dead:

Here are the categories and the competition for the awards that The Walking Dead were victorious in:

Best Syndicated / Cable Television Series:

  • 12 Monkeys
  • American Horror Story: Freak Show
  • Continuum
  • Falling Skies
  • Salem
  • The Strain
  • The Walking Dead  (winner)

Best Actor in a Television Series:

  • Hugh Dancy – Hannibal  (winner-tie)
  • Grant Gustin – The Flash
  • Andrew Lincoln – The Walking Dead  (winner-tie)
  • Tobias Menzies – Outlander
  • Mads Mikkelsen – Hannibal
  • Noah Wyle – Falling Skies

Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series:

  • Emilia Clarke – Game of Thrones
  • Jenna Coleman – Doctor Who
  • Caroline Dhavernas – Hannibal
  • Lexa Doig – Continuum

  • Melissa McBride – The Walking Dead  (winner)

Congratulations go out to The Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln, and Melissa McBride on their wins.  All are well deserved victories.  Hopefully, following the show’s 6th season, The Walking Dead will be accepting even more awards at the 2016 Saturn Awards.
