The Walking Dead: We don’t need no stinking Emmy
By Susie Graham
Fans of the Walking Dead may have been upset, sad, confused, angry, a little outraged, frustrated or a whole slew of other emotions when they saw that The Walking Dead cast received zero nominations for the Emmy. But one thing they probably were not is surprised.
The Walking Dead has been routinely snubbed or overlooked by critics and award givers in its 5 seasons on the air.
It has its share of celebrity super fans though, as we’ve seen on the Talking Dead couch.
Jason Alexander tweeted at the beginning of season 5, Walking Dead back &redhot! Andrew Lincoln, Melissa McBride – two of the best actors on TV & not getting near enough industry love.
Nathan Fillion wrote a full-blown love letter to The Walking Dead.
I could spin a million theories as to why The Walking Dead doesn’t get nominated, but I’ll let you do that over drinks or coffee or BBQ or wherever you hash out your theories.
Lennie James once said about Morgan on Talking Dead that he didn’t want to understand why Morgan was so popular. I have the same feeling about this on the other side. I don’t want to know why they snub us. They just do. And I’m okay with it. I know the actors are fantastic. They know they are great. They know the fans love them! And their acting peers love them!
Keep your statues! We’ve got our own special coolness without them!
Oh, and the Emmys are on sometime on some channel. If you want to know more, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
