The Walking Dead season 6 to have a flashback episode
By Adam Carlson
AMC’s The Walking Dead has a history of shifting time in the show. This isn’t done in a Quantum Leap or Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure kind of way, instead the show relies on flash forwards and flashbacks to help establish stories and create emphasis for certain elements of the show.
Sometimes, those flashbacks are bigger than others. In the past, we’ve learned about several important stories through flashbacks. Season 6 of The Walking Dead should be no different. While we’re looking forward to finding out what will happen to Rick Grimes and the survivors in Alexandria, sometimes we have to take a look into the past in order to understand the future.
At Comic-Con International in San Diego, California, The Walking Dead’s showrunner Scott M. Gimple had the following statement to say about an upcoming season 6 episode:
"“There will be a whole lot of flashbacks in the first half of this season. I’m working on an entire episode that is a flashback.”"
While we don’t know what the episode is about, we can always guess as to what the theme will be. While the folks over at Comicbook.com are hoping for a flashback to see the origins of Alexandria or maybe even a chance to see Shane Walsh once again. However, I don’t think they’re right.
While I’d love to see Shane Walsh again, or know more about the origin of Alexandria, I don’t feel either of those would be essential in moving the story ahead on The Walking Dead. If I were a betting man. I’d put everything I own on a Morgan themed episode. Finding out how he got from where he was during season 3 episode 12 when he was crazed after the death of his son could be an excellent episode. The journey from Georgia to Alexandria had to be one heck of a trip for him, as we’ve seen his mindset change several times over the course of the series.
What do you guys think? What would you love to see in The Walking Dead’s season 6 flashback episode? And how interested would you be in discovering Morgan’s journey to Alexandria. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
