Fear the Walking Dead. The Walking Dead: China. The Walking Dead: SVU. One of these spin-offs is real. The other two were joked about by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman recently on Marc Maron’s WTF

podcast

. The SVU squad as badass zombie slayers?! The possibility of

Walker Olivia Bensen? Or Ice-T as Walker Tutuola? Sweet!

Law and Order has a pretty good spin-off success rate-only one dud I remember (or don’t remember), so not a bad role model for Kirkman.

We’re doing [Fear the Walking Dead], and I’m sure that, if it does well, we’ll do The Walking Dead China eventually. [And then] The Walking Dead: SVU. ~Robert Kirkman

I digressed. Kirkman was discussing how he had a long-term vision for The Walking Dead that included a hopeful ending for the series rather than the typical ‘run away, the zombies have won and we don’t know where we’re going, but zombies rule and we have to get away and the movie has to end somehow, and the credits have to roll’ and yes, this is a really long sentence!

Forecasting a 10-12 season run for the original The Walking Dead, he mentioned that there is now Fear the Walking Dead and if it does well, who knows what could come from that!  “We’re doing [Fear the Walking Dead], and I’m sure that, if it does well, we’ll do The Walking Dead China eventually. [And then] The Walking Dead: SVU.”

At San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks ago, Greg Nicotero was discussing Fear the Walking Dead and teased that the plan was “a zombie show on 52 weeks a year.  I assumed he was teasing. Maybe they know something I don’t know!

Several actors from The Walking Dead have done guest spots on Law and Order: SVU, so this would be a nice flip-flop.  And some fans have wanted Christopher Meloni to join the Walking Dead family as Negan.  Maybe The Walking Dead: SVU will be the right fit for him?

I wish I knew a better way to type the dun dun sound effect from Law and Order! That would have been a really dramatic ending to this article!         dun dun
