The Walking Dead is set to return to AMC on October 11, 2015.  That is when everyone is looking forward to seeing their favorite characters like Daryl Dixon, Rick Grimes, and Carol Peletier help continue telling us the story of the survivors at the Alexandria Safe-Zone.

Although we love the characters that we already know, there are some new characters coming that fans from the comics may be familiar with.  Season 6 is scheduled to bring us some new characters, and thanks to recently released photos and the announcements at 2015 Comic-Con International in San Diego, California, we know a lot more about who these character will be and the actors who will play them.

Here are three characters that you’ll be introduced to when The Walking Dead returns for season 6:

Carter

Played by Once Upon A Time’s Ethan Embry, Carter will be a complete wild card to those who read the comics.  Showrunner Scott M. Gimple has explained that he will be a mashup of several characters from the graphic novels combined into one character.  However, from the looks of The Walking Dead’s season 6 Comic-Con trailer, Carter doesn’t seem to like the idea of Rick Grimes having a role of authority in Alexandria.

Heath

Corey Hawkins will assume the role of Heath, a resident of Alexandria who plays a pretty major role in the comic book series.  He is one of the members of the town that goes on runs for supplies and eventually befriends Glenn Rhee.  He has a romantic relationship with another resident of the Safe-Zone and has a great charisma to him.

Denise

Denise Cloyd, The Walking Dead - AMC

Emmy winning actress Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie) will take on the role of Dr. Denise Cloyd.  Denise is an essential part of Alexandria following the death of Pete.  Her medical expertise will be very important in several storylines that happen soon in The Walking Dead’s comic book world which may translate over to the small screen.

Are you looking forward to any of these characters for The Walking Dead’s 6th season?  Or are there other characters from the comics that you are looking forward to debuting on the hit AMC show?  Let me know in the comments below.
