Fear The Walking Dead: Meet the characters
By Adam Carlson
Fear The Walking Dead will hit AMC on Sunday, so here is a nice little primer for those who want to get a heads up on the show before they tune in.
In a recent video on the AMC YouTube channel, Gale Anne Hurd helps introduce us to some of the main characters that we will meet during season one of Fear The Walking Dead. Not only that, but she talks about the decisions that were made during casting in order to choose people who were right for Fear The Walking Dead.
Here is that video:
There are several more new scenes included in this video, including some looks at what will happen after Madison goes to investigate Nick’s claims of all the death a dying at the church. But, of course, the main focus of the video is to get you to know a bit more about who all the new people are on Fear The Walking Dead, the relationships between them, and why you should care what happens to them.
Kim Dickens is set to play Madison, who looks to be the “Rick Grimes” type character on Fear The Walking Dead. Much of the story will focus around her family, her job at the school, and her interactions with others who are touched by the infection. Her children Nick and Alicia seem to be polar opposites, but one being a struggling drug addict while the other is a popular girl at school who gets good grades.
Meanwhile, Cliff Curtis plays the love interest for Madison, Travis. Travis is handy, and a teacher at the school were Madison works. He has a son named Chris with him he shares custody with the mother, Liza. Chris is still upset about his parents getting divorced and holds a major grudge against his father for that.
Then we have the Salazar family. Daniel, the father, owns a barbershop and the mother, Griselda, takes care of many of the matters at home. Their daughter Ofelia lives a sheltered life until the outbreak forces Madison and Travis’ family to take shelter in their barbershop during what many think to be riots, but is actually a battle between the authority and members of law enforcement with some less scrupulous folks taking advantage of this time by looting.
It will be interesting to see this group come together as survivors and discover the dynamic between them all. We won’t have to wait much longer, as Fear The Walking Dead is just three days away.
