The Walking Dead: Seth Gilliam at Wizard World Chicago

While the rest of the world was jumping up and down at the thought of Norman Reedus being at Wizard World Chicago, I was most excited to meet and talk to Seth Gilliam. I had other great experiences that I’ll write about in other articles, but Seth was the most satisfying meet and greet opportunity I had. I was nervous to speak to him, but I didn’t get as tongue tied with him as I did with Michael Rooker.

Seth really seemed to want to talk about Father Gabriel even though he didn’t have the time to do so. His handler even told us we should get our own show and had to move me along to take my picture and let Seth get to the next people in line.

I can’t quote Seth verbatim because I was chatting with him quickly and didn’t have an opportunity to write anything down, but I’m going to paraphrase him pretty accurately. When I was next in line and listening to him chat with two guys ahead of me Seth talked about how on shows there are characters you love and characters you hate and he just happens to be a character that people are hating right now.

He said that’s okay because if his character does do something good in the future it will make it all the better. And then he turned into Gansta Father Gabriel and said something to the effect of, “See. Nah. It’s too late!” And gave a big cross gesture over himself and said, “Go with God.” A little “how you like me now?” routine.

When I stepped up to talk to him I told him how I’ve written articles about how I’m his only fan and I think people are too hard on him. He agreed and said how new he is to everything. That even Carol wasn’t who she is now in the beginning. I was a big blabbermouth and then got chased off very politely. The Seth and Susie show! I like the sound of that!

We took our picture. I have to learn where to look on my own camera! How do celebrities and teenagers know how to take such great selfies? He asked who I wrote for again. I hope he finds us! I will tweet this article to him.

Thank you, Seth, for being so kind. I hope you get to turn into Gansta Father Gabriel in Season 6!
