The Driving Dead is an online web series from the State of Illinois Department of Transportation that focuses on making viewers more aware of how dangerous irresponsible driving habits can be.

This series is exceptionally interesting because it is shot in a dark, gloomy way that can remind people of the hit AMC zombie survival drama The Walking Dead.  In addition to that similarity, the series stars Michael Rooker, the actor who played Merle Dixon on the popular television series.

Episode 4 of this groundbreaking series was released yesterday on the official The Driving Dead YouTube page.  If you haven’t watched the previous episodes, be sure to check them out before you watch this one, as the episodes together tell a pretty great story.

And here is episode 4:

In the press release for the event, an intimate look into the reason why Michael Rooker is so passionate about this project was given.

"“Years ago, I lost my brother to a seat belt related traffic fatality, so this series is extremely close to my heart,” said Rooker. “It is my sincerest hope that my fans will watch and share these videos, and that by doing so, we can make people think twice before engaging in any kind of dangerous driving behavior.”"

You can connect with The Driving Dead on their Instagram, Facebook or Twitter accounts as well as subscribe to their videos on YouTube.  I highly recommend you check out this series if you haven’t already.  It’s quite well done and offers a very unique perspective on driver safety.
