Fear The Walking Dead Special to reveal new character

We’re only one episode into Fear The Walking Dead, but there is already a special episode in the works that will bring one character to the AMC companion series for the second season.

That information was passed along to us by the great folks over at Entertainment Weekly. They were able to get their hands on the following information about the upcoming special.

Here is what they had to say:

"“EW has exclusively learned AMC is producing a half-hour special that will tell a stand-alone story following a group of passengers facing a walker attack on an airline while in flight. One character who survives that encounter will then join the cast of Fear the Walking Dead in season 2.”"

The half-hour special will be broken down into chapters, and will air during the run of The Walking Dead’s sixth season on AMC. At this time, it isn’t known just how the special will be separated for viewing on AMC, but what we do know is that it is a great opportunity to meet a future cast member from Fear The Walking Dead.

This is absolute genius on the part of AMC, who will use that time to try to draw in more of the viewers from the hit AMC zombie survival drama The Walking Dead over to the companion series, Fear The Walking Dead.

Also, The Walking Dead had success in a similar format with the webisodes, which focused on a character or situation from the television show that seemed insignificant at the time, but gave it meaning for those who watched.
