Fear The Walking Dead’s ratings are very impressive for AMC
By Adam Carlson
Earlier this week, I wrote an article about how the live viewing ratings for AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead being a little down were understandable considering history and the competition it faced in that particular time slot. However, Deadline.com recently released some numbers that blew that idea out of the water.
In my mind, I thought that maybe the slow pacing and lack of action during Fear The Walking Dead’s pilot episode may have scared many people away from watching the second episode “So Close Yet So Far” as it scored only 8.2 million viewers. Instead, with the numbers added in with digital views, the show raked in a total of 11.7 million viewers.
The show appears to have the making of being another television juggernaut for AMC, as now the first two episodes have both broken the 10 million viewer mark.
That’s not to say that Fear The Walking Dead doesn’t have its flaws. There is still a feeling in the community that the show is similar to the NFL’s preseason games to lead up to The Walking Dead. However, these numbers tell a completely different story, as people are tuning in to find out what will happen to these new characters in Los Angeles, California.
Fear The Walking Dead is taking one week off for the Labor Day holiday and will return with episode 3 of the series titled ‘The Dog” on September 13, 2015, where it will face off head-to-head with the NFL’s juggernaut Sunday Night Football. If “The Dog” can break the 10 million viewer mark after replays, we’ll know that the show has a very bright future for AMC.
Personally, I’ll be watching next Sunday no matter what, as I’m already hooked on great characters like Nick and Travis and can’t wait to see what is going to happen next during the early stages of the outbreak. From the look of the numbers, I’m not the only one that is already hooked on this show.
