The Walking Dead: Danai Gurira calls Season 6 powerful and beautiful and definitely a roller coaster
By Susie Graham
Danai Gurira told Entertainment Weekly that Season 6 of The Walking Dead is definitely a roller coaster and it’s powerful and beautiful at the same time.
The fun and frustrating thing about news about The Walking Dead is that it’s always the same. Everything they tell us can be applied to almost every episode or every season. But they can’t help it. They can’t give away details.
Here’s exactly what Danai told Entertainment Weekly:
"It’s going to be very powerful and beautiful at the same time. It’s going to go into so many different components of very intense and then very rich in human moments as well, but like a deeply different roller coaster from last year. It’s definitely a roller coaster. The pace constantly changes up in terms of who you’re watching, what you’re watching, and where. But at the same time, it’s so unpredictable and so unique from anything we’ve ever done before. It’s just really, really amazing to read the scripts, and to do them has been really, really exciting."
Every season is powerful and beautiful at the same time. Every season is unique from what they’ve done before. The Walking Dead is always unpredictable. There’s always intensity and still human moments. It’s always a roller coaster.
It sounds like I’m criticizing. I am not!
I love that they are able to maintain a show that can do all those things each and every season. To keep us on a roller coaster filled with beauty and humanity and unpredictability.
They try things. They play with time. They pull people from us. They go deeper into themes of humanity, forgiveness and imperfection.
Not everything pleases everyone, but I trust them. I can’t wait for Season 6. I can’t wait for the unpredictable, beautiful, intense, roller coaster ride!
