Today, AMC released a piece of key art and a character portrait for season 6 of The Walking Dead.

With the show’s season 6 premiere scheduled to air on October 11. 2015, fans are hungrier than ever to get more teases, info, spoilers, and rumors about what will happen to their favorite characters.  AMC’s character portrait features two of the most popular characters from The Walking Dead in what looks to be a very interesting pose.

Here is that portrait from the official AMC website:

The picture may show the two characters walking in the same direction, but the underlying points of the photograph are telling.  First, Morgan is holding his staff while Rick’s hand is right next to his gun.  Morgan and Rick are exchanging looks of either frustration or disbelief, teasing the conflict that is likely coming between the two characters.

AMC’s key art is much less subtle.  The focus is Rick Grimes, the letters TWD and the date of The Walking Dead’s season 6 premiere.  Here is that art from AMC’s website:

Personally, I like the key art.  It is subtle.  The artwork focuses on the letters TWD, the date of the season 6 premiere, and shows the program’s protagonist, Rick Grimes.  I also enjoy the black and while style, as it gives the promotional photo an old school feel.

However, I don’t feel the same way about the character portrait.  I have no problem with focusing on Rick and Morgan, but this piece of artwork could be very misleading if there isn’t a major showdown between these two characters.  It also passes on the idea of any outside threat to either Rick or Morgan and has a background that looks like an Instagram filter.
