The Walking Dead: New role for Reg actor, Steve Coulter
Once #TWDFamily, always #TWDFamily. That’s how the saying goes! So, of course we want to celebrate the success of all The Walking Dead cast members, both past and present.
We checked in with Steve Coulter several weeks ago to see what the actor has been doing since the brutal death of his character Reg Monroe on The Walking Dead. He reported that he had been working on the movie Mena with Tom Cruise as well as playing a recurring role on Banshee. Steve can now add the HBO film The Wizard of Lies to his list of projects. The project chronicles the deception and fallout of Bernie Madoff’s Ponzie scheme. According to Nellie Andreeva’s article on deadline.com, HBO has announced that Coulter has been cast in the role of Martin London, step-father and attorney to Madiff’s son Mark. Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeiffer will star as Bernie and Ruth Madoff. Congratulations to Steve!
Steve leaves behind fellow The Walking Dead cast members Tovah Feldshuh and Austin Nichols, who play Reg’s wife, Deanna Monroe, and son, Spencer Monroe, respectively. While these two characters will most certainly be mourning Reg, the actors themselves have something to celebrate as both have been recently announced as series regulars on The Walking Dead.
I am definitely anxious to see how Reg’s death will affect his surviving family members. I wonder if this loss will shake Deanna’s confidence as a leader or instead give her motivation to fight harder against the evils lurking outside of Alexandria’s walls (or perhaps even within them). As for Spencer Monroe, we don’t know much about him currently, aside from his knack for flirtation as evidenced in his exchange with Sasha at the welcome party. I’m not sure if we will be able to evaluate how his father’s death may change him without the benefit of some flashback scenes or narrative from other characters. Either way, I’m looking forward to seeing more of Spencer and how his role develops.
The Walking Dead returns October 11th on AMC for its sixth season.
