Fear The Walking Dead: The National Guard’s role
By Adam Carlson
When Fear The Walking Dead finished its third episode, the National Guard had come in to take over the area surrounding Madison’s house. One of the current residents of that house is Ofelia Salazar, played by the lovely and talented Mercedes Mason.
With the fourth episode of the show coming up, there is plenty of speculation as to what the role of the National Guard is in the community and what their ultimate goal is.
Luckily for us, the folks over at MTV got a chance to speak with Mercedes Mason about this exact situation and what it could mean for the people in the community. Here is that video:
The best part of the video above is when Ms. Mason talks about the uncertainty that surrounds having the area under military control.
"“We don’t know if they’re going to separate us,” Mason revealed to MTV News.“Initially, in society, you’re taught that the police, the military — they’re there to help, and to garner some sort of security. But we start finding out something quite different.”"
We’ve seen the residents of the community being asked many questions. They are to report the number of survivors in their home and the level of contact that they’ve had with ‘the infected’. The buildings in the area are also marked with specific symbols and words.
Daniel Salazar has already expressed his questioning of the National Guard’s authority on Fear The Walking Dead, but will that attitude spread through the rest of the group?
"“The military are marking certain homes that are clean, or un-infected,” she continued. “There’s three families crammed into that home, so I think tensions are going to run really high… something causes all of to realize how dire the situation we’re actually in.”"
You can catch the fourth episode of Fear The Walking Dead on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Check your local listings for time and availability.
