The Walking Dead‘s season 6 premiere gave us many huge scenes involving hordes of zombies, tons of action, and some great internal conflict between the residents of Alexandria.  But one of the most important moments in the episode were five little words that might have gone unnoticed by some.

When the plan to remove the zombies from the quarry is being put together, Glenn knows that he has to go out and help Rick and the gang.  Maggie offers to go as well, but Glenn told her that her services are better used to help Deanna and the rest of the residents in Alexandria.  Maggie agreed, but added the following words:

"“That’s not the only reason.”"

Wait.  What?  C’mon, Maggie.  You can’t be vague like that on The Walking Dead.  Everyone will read something different into the situation.  However, readers of the comic books aren’t as shocked by that line because they know what is next for her in that universe.

In Volume 17 of The Walking Dead‘s comics titled ‘Something To Fear’, it is revealed that Maggie Greene is actually pregnant with Glenn’s baby.  By this time, Glenn and Maggie had already adopted Sophia following Carol’s suicide, and are a family unit.  They discuss moving to the Hilltop Colony for safety, which is eventually the direction the family goes with.

Fans already know that Negan ends up making a huge impact on the Rhee family, taking Glenn out and leaving Maggie to raise Sophia and the her child, which she names Hershel Greene after her father.

There is no way to know if AMC’s The Walking Dead will follow in the comic footsteps at this point.  It’s also unsure what will become of the angle with Sophia, who passed away much earlier in the television series.  But it will be interesting to see if Maggie’s “other” reason for not taking part in fighting the undead is because she is with child.
