We have been blown away by the first 2 episodes of The Walking Dead season 6. But did all the action distract us from a few details of explanation? I have heard several questions raised over the last two weeks. Some plot points may have been misunderstood. Here is my feeble attempt to “Just Set (it) Straight”.

Hopefully, this insight will put a few questions to rest. Or perhaps it will also raise new ones. Let’s see!

How did Morgan arrive to Alexandria so quickly after the horn went off?

Well, he didn’t. Screen captures below remind us that Rick sent Morgan back to Alexandria to let the community know that the dress rehearsal had gone live. Rick suggests there is about an hour to go before the next check point. This conversation occurs before the horn sounds.

Denise is not a real doctor since she is a psychiatrist. True or False?

False. Denise, a.k.a. Dr. Cloyd, is most certainly a medical doctor. WebMD provides the following details about a psychiatrist’s medical training.

"Psychiatrists are medical doctors (MDs) who graduate from medical school, have a year of medical internship, and have 3 years of residency in the assessment and treatment of mental health disorders."

Now, in regard to Dr. Cloyd’s competence in her role, only time will tell.

Why does the sign for Alexandria direct people into the forest?

It does not. Upon close inspection, the sign says “Next Right”. But since walkers cannot read, they are merely seen taking the shortcut through the woods, but still turning to the right in the direction of Alexandria.

Did Carol come up with the idea of pretending to take Morgan prisoner?

It was probably not a completely original idea. We see a Wolf take someone captive pulling them along in chains near the beginning  of the assault on Alexandria. The Wolf who is planning to attack Morgan has a chain wrapped around his waist. After Carol eliminates this Wolf and saves Morgan, it is likely that she used his chain to tether Morgan to her as her “prisoner”. While she likely saw the other Wolves using this technique first, she was indeed resourceful in using it to keep Morgan safely with her, fooling the Wolves into thinking she had taken him captive.

Now just to be clear, I do not profess to have known all these details about The Walking Dead season 6 after a single viewing.  But I do love a good research project.  So, when inconsistencies are suggested, I am more than happy to partake in a second (or third!) viewing and look a little more closely at certain details.  Be sure to share your opinions or any other burning questions in the Comments section.
