While everyone is talking about the recent episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead, Android users may have missed that the mobile game The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land has made its debut on the Google Play Store.

Unlike The Walking Dead: Road To Survival, I was actually able to download and play this game on my HTC One M8.  At this time, I’m still unable to play the other game, so I was excited to be able to have a game that I didn’t have to play through an Android emulator on my laptop.  So I was already pleased with this game.

The gameplay is a bit clunky, as the drag-and-drop style of attacking feels a bit old school these days, but there is some charm to it as well.  It could be a very interesting way to introduce some fans of The Walking Dead to strategy games.  Personally, I enjoy strategy games, so it didn’t bother me that sometimes the game makes you take unnecessary moves to end a round.

There is also the somewhat complicated method of upgrading characters.  The menu at the camp takes a bit of getting used to, but they also employ the method of microtransactions to upgrade.  Those transactions are not required though, as players can earn the rewards as well through patience and grinding instead of spending money.

Including Daryl Dixon was a great move by the game’s developers, as there are likely several people who will download this game just because that character is involved.  While it is a bit of a cheap tie in, being able to connect The Walking Dead’s TV show with the game should pay dividends for the game.  However, including actual locations from the show feels much more smooth and familiar, and is a part of the game that is really enjoyable.
