‘The Governor’ David Morrissey receives Honorary Doctorate

Our favorite Governor, David Morrissey, received his Honorary Doctorate over at the University of Gloucestershire recently. It was originally announced back in August Morrissey would attend this year’s graduation ceremony.

According to the Glocester Citizen, the University’s Film Production Course Leader, Freya Billington, presented Morrissey with the award at The Centaur. Freya previously began working with David Morrissey’s charity The Creative Arts Schools Trust in 2011.

Freya Billington discusses David Morrissey:

“I am absolutely delighted the University has chosen to bestow this honor on David since I have had the genuine privilege of working with him through CAST and find him inspirational, as an artist, a teacher and an activist.

“When he came in to talk to Film Production students last year, he shared the passion he has for his craft but also gave an insight into the absolute commitment and hard work he puts into each project he undertakes.”

David Morrissey on receiving the Honorary Doctorate:

“I am delighted to be receiving this award, and the time I spent with the students at the University of Gloucestershire was so inspiring.”

Congratulations to David Morrissey on this prestigious honor! We hope to see The Governor return for a Walking Dead cameo or two. Hint, hint. Alexandria could always use more quality dream sequences.

Morrissey returned to the stage recently on Hangmen. Following a sellout at the Royal Court Theatre, Hangmen is now showing at the West End’s Wyndham’s Theatre.
