The Walking Dead: Pretty sure Daryl doesn’t die on Valentine’s day

Daryl Dixon, Sasha, and Abraham are being introduced to Negan’s men presently on The Walking Dead while the rest of our gang is dealing with the herd back in Alexandria.

While it seems like all three are in danger, I’m pretty sure Daryl does not die during this particular scene. Not because his fans will riot, but because of some of the clues from recent interviews.

Even in a fairly old interview, Scott Gimple told Deadline, “I will say that we are going to see much more Daryl Dixon next half-season.” I don’t think one episode and dying would reflect seeing much more of him.

Of course, Scott Gimple is not above misdirection when it comes to The Walking Dead. We did have a huge fake out with Glenn’s dumpster death last fall. So that is not much in the way of definitive proof.

More the walking dead: A new teaser! Don't draw attention!

More recently, showrunner Scott Gimple told TV Insider, “We put Norman through his paces. He’s very scary in this back half, but there are a couple of moments where he made me laugh out loud. There is a whole lot of Daryl and a wide variety of Daryl.”

In their behind-the-scenes interview with TV GUIDE magazine, Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln talked about one episode that was “bromantic” and like a Rick and Daryl’s Excellent Adventures. Norman said they watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid to prepare.

This is my most compelling evidence that Daryl doesn’t die in the mid season premiere. It doesn’t make sense that there would be a bromance adventure episode after Daryl dies unless it were a flash back or Tyreese-esque hallucination.

More from Undead Walking

But from everything else written about this back half, it’s going to be very linear story telling and not as much puzzle piecing of time. Of course, you never know with The Walking Dead. They are always full of surprises that we don’t see coming.

I think season 6B is going to be spectacular. I think it’s the first time in a while I’ve been this afraid for a shake up. It’s interesting because some people have been aching for a shake up. I think they might want to be careful what they wish for because we’re going to get it!
