Former The Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal has joined the star-studded cast of writer/director Edgar Wright’s upcoming crime drama titled Baby Driver.

Jon Bernthal seems to be becoming one of the hottest actors in Hollywood. Following his role as Shane Walsh on AMC’s hit zombie survival drama The Walking Dead, the actor landed a big role on the Netflix and Marvel series Daredevil as The Punisher and now news has been released that he will be part of a big 2017 film.

According to Deadline.com, Bernthal will join other great actors such as Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm and Kevin Spacey in the Edgar Wright movie Baby Driver.

Zombie fans might know Edgar Wright as the man behind the popular zombie comedy flick Shaun of the Dead, or maybe from his other films such like Hot Fuzz, The World’s End, and Scott Pilgrim vs the World. However, this time it will be a heist flick that the popular writer/director will tackle.

The former star of The Walking Dead will play a character named Griff, who will have a big role in the film. Here is the description of the film from the IMDB website:

More from Undead Walking

"“After being coerced into working for a crime boss, a young getaway driver finds himself taking part in a heist doomed to fail.”"

According to Deadspin, “Baby” is the nickname given to the young getaway driver played by Ansel Elgort hired by the boss Doc, portrayed by Kevin Spacey. They state that he “relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to shield him from the chaos that surrounds him, but he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.”

The film has recently started filming in the Atlanta, Georgia area, which is also where AMC films The Walking Dead. Baby Driver could be a great opportunity for Bernthal to reach an even larger audience than his current fan club of comic book turned television show fans.

This looks to be a major Hollywood blockbuster that could help the former Shane Walsh actor reach even higher levels of fame, considering that his work on Marvel’s Daredevil hasn’t even been released yet on Netflix. We at Undead Walking would like to congratulate Jon Bernthal on this role and look forward to seeing Baby Driver when it is released in theatres in 2017.
