Fear The Walking Dead cast picks: Rick Grimes vs Ash Williams
By Adam Carlson
Who wins in a fight between Evil Dead’s Ash Williams and The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes? The cast of Fear The Walking Dead made their picks for a winner.
Hypothetical questions can be a lot of fun. In fact, fandoms do this kind of thing all the time. What if Daryl Dixon were to appear on Doctor Who? How would Tobias fare on Game of Thrones? Fans may never find out, but they are a great to think about a discuss.
Recently, the folks over at Variety had the chance to talk to the cast and crew of Fear The Walking Dead, who are entering their second season of the AMC zombie survival drama to ask them one of the best zombie crossover questions on the planet.
In a recent article on Variety’s website, they shared a video where they asked several people close to Fear The Walking Dead who they think would win in a fight: Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead or Ash Williams from Ash Vs Evil Dead. Here is the video showing their responses:
Included in the video from Fear The Walking Dead are Alycia Debnam-Carey, Dave Erickson, Kim Dickens, Lorenzo James Henrie, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Rubén Blades, Gale Anne Hurd, and Mercedes Mason.

While most of the people asked were aware of who Ash Williams is and how badass of a character he is, every single individual asked chose Rick Grimes to come out on top of this battle. Maybe it’s loyalty to The Walking Dead’s brand, but it’s moderately surprising that nobody went with the man who kills deadites, who are much more deadly than walkers.
The only person asked who sees it as being a great fight was Cliff Curtis, who struggled to think of who would come out on top in that battle. Meanwhile Frank Dillane struggled to figure out who Ash Williams is and where he should know the character from and Mercedes Mason was the only one to discuss Ash’s advantage by bringing a chainsaw to a fist fight.
But how did Bruce Campbell, the actor who plays Ash Williams, respond to all this:
Maybe one day there will be a crossover where Ash Williams, or at least Bruce Campbell, will appear on an episode of The Walking Dead, but until then fans will just have to keep imagining a face-to-face matchup between the two killers of the undead.
