Episode 2 of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: Michonne titled “Give No Shelter” was released on March 29, 2016. Here is a rundown of the good and bad things.

Fans of The Walking Dead: Michonne didn’t have to wait long to get the second episode of the game series delivered to them from Telltale Games. In fact, the series seems to be speeding along at a rapid pace, and although the first episode was a little disappointing, episode 2, titled “Give No Shelter” appeared to have a lot more promise.

The game picks up right where the last one left off. The player is set to make several big decisions on who to keep with you, who to rat out, and who to keep close during the first act of episode 2, and that helps make the series even more entertaining.

Seeing the differences between the three main characters at this point is a lot of fun. Sam, Pete, and Michonne are all very unique characters and help bring an interesting dynamic to the group as they attempt to get to safety. The dialogue seemed much better this time around, however some of the animation, such as the boat fleeing from the captors, left a lot to be desired.

The Walking Dead: Michonne‘s second episode also suffers from some really choppy gameplay. Scenes that should flow smoothly instead are met with delays or momentary black screens that can damper the gaming experience. While that issue didn’t have a negative impact on the gameplay itself, it make the presentation feel like it was rushed through on a deadline.

Quality over quantity is a great thing for games, but it still felt like act 2 and act 3 of season 2 were far too short with too little of interaction to be considered its own chunk of gameplay. While the two parts did advance the story and add more characters and locations, they still felt as though they needed a little more beef to be an act.

However, as a whole, the entire second episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne felt like it was worthy of a purchase. For the price, fans of The Walking Dead can’t really find a much better value for brand new original content from a great developer like Telltale Games.

The first episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne left a lot to be desired, but the second episode brought the story to a new and interesting level, adding interesting characters and situations rarely seen in previous games in Telltale’s video game series. Overall, the new content did nothing but add value to the series, proving that sticking with a game like this can pay major dividends.

No review of this episode would be complete without mentioning that big OMG moment provided. As far as unexpected moments in gaming, there is one such event in this game that should catch just about every gamer off guard. No spoilers, but dang…that was crazy.
