The Walking Dead’s season 6 finale was a big episode that will change everything that fans have known to love about AMC’s zombie survival drama series.

Watching the season 6 finale of The Walking Dead was like watching a car crash. You knew it would be brutal and heartbreaking, but you just can’t seem to look away. The episode titled “Last Day On Earth” might have put a bow on one of the most interesting and original episodes in the series history, but it also changed just about everything fans can expect from the show going forward.

In the past, The Walking Dead found their characters bouncing around from location to location, leaving a path of death and destruction wherever Rick and his people went. But now, the people of Alexandria have something to fight for. A future to build. And a community to grow. But the biggest obstacle in making that happen has now shown its face.

There hasn’t been a bigger character introduction on The Walking Dead than when Negan made his first appearance. While it could be argued that the debuts of characters like Michonne or Glenn were major events, neither of those came close to matching the intensity of Negan.

Once the big bad was on the screen, a feeling of dread sent shockwaves through the fandom. Standing there, trying to decide who he’d kill to make the people of Alexandria fear and respect him was an intense scene, and one that won’t soon be forgotten.

Will any character on AMC’s The Walking Dead ever recover from an incident like that? And how will the people who were not at the events in the woods respond to the actions of Negan? Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s job of bringing the comic book bad guy to live was admirable and interesting, making future interactions between him and the other cast members of The Walking Dead something to truly look forward to.

No matter who the death at the hands of Negan’s baseball bat Lucille was, the entire show would change. These are all characters that are connected to each other and have an established community together. While fans have to wait until season 7 to find out who the kill was, odds are it will break hearts all over the world.
