Undead Walking interviewed The Walking Dead’s Alicia Witt and met with Tom Payne, Austin Amelio, and John Carroll Lynch at Walker Stalker Con: Nashville.

Walker Stalker Con is a fantastic venue for meeting your favorite stars from The Walking Dead in addition to other “fan”-tastic series. For Walker Stalker Nashville I was on a specific mission to visit The Walking Dead cast members that viewers were introduced to in season 6.  Here’s what I learned from them!

Alicia Witt – Paula

Alicia was the first guest we visited at Walker Stalker Nashville. She was stunning in a red dress with her hair in a pretty updo. Alicia, both a singer and songwriter, had performed in concert the night prior at Nashville’s The 5 Spot. She kindly answered our question about a theme song for her character Paula on The Walking Dead.

Listen to our conversation here:

Unfortunately, our audio cut out near the end, but as you probably guessed, the monologue Alicia is referring to is the one about the egg, the carrot, and the coffee.  The aforementioned song “Down” featuring her rapper friend T.O.N.E-Z can be found here on iTunes. I was able to purchase the album at Alicia’s table and can certainly see how “Down” reflects Paula and the intensity of her confrontation with Carol. Many thanks to Alicia for taking the time to speak with us!

Austin Amelio – Dwight

My family’s theory proved right when it came to meeting Mr. Amelio. The actors playing villains on The Walking Dead ARE super nice! Austin graciously answered a question for us.

Q: Did you do your own whistling in season 6 episodes 15 and 16? Or did you have a whistling double?

Austin confirmed that, yes, he was actually whistling in those scenes. He could not confirm whether or not the audio was later enhanced for the episode. But sure enough, the actors playing the Saviors were out there whistling. Austin even performed the whistle for us and it was very creepy indeed. It immediately brought Dwight to life before our eyes!

John Carroll Lynch – Eastman

I was thrilled to enjoy a meet and greet moment with John Carroll Lynch.  I told him that I was a fan of Eastman’s eclectic t-shirt collection and learned that he worked on other projects in Georgia this past year as well.

You can see John in the current feature film Miracles From Heaven as well as the upcoming movie The Founder. It was especially fun meeting John in Nashville, which serves as home of the Goo Goo Cluster, Eastman’s go-to snack. (I may or may not have brought home a 12 count box of the iconic candy from the Nashville store. Okay, I did!)

Tom Payne – Paul “Jesus” Rovia

It was such a pleasure meeting Tom Payne, who plays Paul “Jesus” Rovia on The Walking Dead.  Tom had music playing at his table, which created a really fun atmosphere. And it turns out that Tom has some great dance moves as well!

Fans also had the opportunity to attend Tom’s very first Walker Stalker Con panel at the Nashville event. And there is even more Tom to come — he was Kyla Kenedy’s guest for her latest installment of her “Down ‘N Dirty with Kyla Kenedy” Fan Fest interview series! Watch the Fan Fest website for Kyla’s interview with Tom to be released shortly.
