Every time an actor from The Walking Dead is cast in another project, the media and fans are too quick to assume that means they will be killed off on TWD.

The Walking Dead is the most popular show on television, and its stars have become recognized all around the world. Because of this, the actors playing these popular characters are being offered many great roles in other projects, even when they are still a part of AMC’s zombie survival drama.

Much of the time, these actors can find ways to work around AMC’s schedule for filming and take on other side projects without missing a beat. Recently, we’ve seen this with Lauren Cohan’s work in films like The Boy, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and All Eyez on Me. While her schedule has to be absolutely crazy, she was still able to work all these projects and still be on The Walking Dead.

Recently, this speculation about killing character off based on other jobs has gotten out of hand. Whether it is Corey Hawkins being cast in the new 24 series, Steven Yeun’s casting in Okja, Norman Reedus’ new motorcycle show, Josh McDermitt’s addition to the Twin Peaks cast or any other of the numerous jobs cast members have taken on other than The Walking Dead, the media is quick to assume that they can’t handle two acting jobs at once and report that they could be killed off because of it.

Of course, this is all baseless speculation on the part of other media outlets and the fans. The same kind of speculation was flying around the internet when Lauren Cohan got a short hair cut and people assumed that she was done on the show because of it.

All this speculation is fun, but many people take it too seriously. The actors on The Walking Dead are professionals and have agents who help them to be able to take on these extra jobs to gain exposure and help them making money to ensure their futures. It would be an absolute shock if Hawkins, Yeun, Reedus, McDermitt and Cohan were all killed off at the beginning of season 7 because they accepted another acting job.

In the future, we all need to relax and just enjoy that we can see our favorite stars from AMC’s record-breaking zombie survival drama in other movies and television shows without worrying that them having these roles means they won’t be around in the future on The Walking Dead. Because that’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works.
