The season 6 finale of The Walking Dead lead to Negan, but the road to Negan was just as important as the cliffhanger and needs a closer look now.

We’ve had enough time now to absorb the reality that, love it or hate it, we won’t find out who Negan killed until October. So it’s time to examine the road to Pee Pee Pants City more carefully in a more relaxed way.

We spent season 4B on the road to Terminus and ended wondering how they might escape that train car, but with a tough Rick professing that they were going to feel pretty stupid when they found out they were screwing with the wrong people.

We spent 6B on the road to figuring out who Negan was, even though he’s the worst kept secret from the comics. Very unfortunately for us, it appears that we should be feeling stupid because we have screwed with the wrong people.

Instead of feeling stupid, many of us are feeling scared and helpless. Scared of this huge, mean new group of people that we’ve upset. And helpless to do anything about what they are about to do to our family,

There’s nothing worse than seeing people you love scared. When my father was sick and dying from cancer, the worst part of it for me was not seeing him sick or frail or knowing he was going to die. Don’t get me wrong, those things were horrible. But the hardest part were the times I could see he was afraid.

When you watch the cast and producers talk about the finale and watch the scenes get progressively more taunting and threatening, it highlights what the story really was about in that episode–the fear that slowly penetrated the armor of the group at every road block and every increase in numbers and power they displayed at every turn.

The fear and desperation on the faces of our family is tough to take now really looking at it. This is not a problem that is going to go away quickly. We are in for a big season ahead way beyond who is the victim of Lucille.
