Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, was a contestant on Comedy Central’s @midnight where he dropped a major bomb about the season 6 cliffhanger.

With The Walking Dead not returning to AMC until October, there is a lot of time for fans to try to pick apart the huge cliffhanger they were left with at the end of season 6. But that doesn’t mean that everyone feels the same way how the show is handling one of the most talked about situations in television history.

Thankfully, not everyone is rioting about the scene. In fact, many fans are eagerly awaiting the resolution of this situation. However, one of the people who are likely most sick of discussing the cliffhanger is The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.

Last night, Kirkman was a guest on the Comedy Central show @midnight, where host Chris Hardwick made the topic of one category of the hilarious game show specifically to talk about this scene.

Here is that video as hosted on the @midnight Facebook page:

In the video, Hardwick announced that this week’s Live Challenge is about cliffhangers. However, as he said it, he pulled a replica of Negan’s bat Lucille from behind the podium. Robert Kirkman just looked at the

host and walked off the set. Kirkman returned, but another guest, Jonah Ray assumed the position of Rick Grimes, kneeling in front of Hardwick and putting his hands behind his back.

Hardwick says “If I hit you with this, at least we’d know who it was”. Kirkman jokingly tells Hardwick to “soak it up” and to wait for what he will do next season and that it’s only getting worse from here, including an example of him cutting to black in the middle of an episode next time.

Next, some tweets from fans unhappy with the cliffhanger were presented, to which Kirkman and Hardwick seemed very amused. For the game, Hardwick tells the contestants that they will be making up a horrible voice-over for a cliffhanger on a popular show.

"“On the next exciting episode of The Walking Dead, we find out how mad fans are when they learn Negan killed Carl in the season 6 cliffhanger.”"

After a short pause (and some crazy antics on stage from Jonah Ray and Chris Hardwick, Kirkman continued his joke.

"“People wanted to know! I’m not gonna make you wait all summer! I’m not an a–hole!”"

Kirkman has been changing up who he says the victim was. In fact, on a previous appearance on @midnight, the franchise’s creator said it is Glenn Rhee who is Negan’s victim. It’s Kirkman’s ability to not give anything away when he talks about the show that should help make the big reveal even more powerful.
