The Walking Dead: Michael Rooker panel at Walker Stalker Con Chicago

Merle Dixon may not be on The Walking Dead anymore, but you can still see Michael Rooker at Walker Stalker Con. His booth and his panel in Chicago were packed.

Michael Rooker and Merle Dixon are still beloved at Walker Stalker Con. Rooker is a hilarious and energetic guest. His panel was overflowing with fans of Merle and of Michael.

I saw Michael Rooker last summer at Wizard World and even had the opportunity to interview him then as well as watch others interview him. He has a very unusual interview style.

He does not like complicated questions. He answers many questions with a laugh and a yes or a no. Sometimes he gives fantastic long answers that don’t answer the question you asked, but you don’t care by that time.

He gave 3 secrets about Yondu on Guardians of the Galaxy,

1. He’s blue.

2. He whistles.

3. He never has working zippers. (For some reason his costumes always have zippers that are sealed shut.)

Who would win if Merle and Yondu were in a fight? We won’t know. He didn’t like that question.

Who would Merle want to hook up with on the show? That’s easy. Merle would do anyone!

What would Daryl be like if Merle were still on the show? Well, he’d be crying even more!

Michael thinks everyone on the show should be bathing more and having more sex. He didn’t understand why the girls didn’t go for Merle when he had such beautiful come on lines like sugar tits.

Rooker says he loves Melissa McBride. “She’s the boss of me.”

About his own kidding personality, Rooker says “I like poking and prodding. And I like poking and prodding in the same hole.”

His music tastes include old country and rock-a-billy, Kings of Leon and the band Chicago to name a few. His drink of preference is Jameson’s Gold Reserve whiskey, which some of his favorite bars will stock for him now. He doesn’t like beer because it’s carbonated.

Ticks are apparently a big problem when shooting The Walking Dead.  He brought up ticks quite a bit. “You ever been ticked?”

He thinks he wouldn’t really be part of any group on the show now. He’s kind of a loner and not a group guy. Basically there’s “no way in hell he’d hang out with those bunch of idiots!”

When asked who he was talking to on the roof, he said himself. He added that people do that, you know!? It’s not that complicated.

When it was brought up that he cheated in board games, he said yes. And he loves games. He said he loves Jose’s game but couldn’t remember the name of it so someone from back stage brought out a giant cardboard cutout of the game with a guy on it, which Michael proceeded to karate kick.

Of course, no panel would be complete without someone asking about Lucille. Michael’s very Rooker answer? “I don’t care!”
