Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead took to Twitter to discuss the zombie survival drama more than any other show’s fan base during the 2015-16 television season.

Social media is a great place to meet people with similar interests and discuss just about anything with strangers all around the world. Last television season, there were a ton of great programs that were talked about on sites like Facebook and Twitter, but none of those other shows came close to matching the interaction of The Walking Dead fans on Twitter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a report from television analytic giant Nielsen compiled information on all the tweets about popular television shows, and AMC’s zombie survival drama came out on top of that list in a landslide.

Here are the top 5 shows in terms of average unique audience (per thousand) on Twitter per episode:

  1. The Walking Dead, AMC – 3,978
  2. The Bachelor, ABC – 3,593
  3. Game of Thrones, HBO – 3,171
  4. The Bachelorette, ABC – 2,587
  5. Empire, FOX – 2,525

But unique users isn’t the only place The Walking Dead kicked butt on Twitter. Fans of the series also went absolutely insane when it came to unique authors (153,000 per episode) and average number of tweets per episode (424,000).

The only show to top AMC’s zombie juggernaut in one of the above categories was average tweets per episode, where fans of FOX’s Empire had 559,000 posts discussing the drama. Despite that, fans of The Walking Dead should be very proud of how they are represented on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter and have proven to be one of the most passionate on the internet.
