Greg Nicotero has nothing but high hopes and praise for season 7 and beyond of The Walking Dead and his pride in the cast and crew of the show.

“It continues to elicit emotion from the viewers.”

We’ve heard the producers say many times how they like to reinvent things every 8 episodes and do things a little differently. We’ve also heard that Negan will change the direction of things dramatically.

We saw that for ourselves with the introduction we got in the season 6 finale. Cliffhanger aside, we’ve never seen Rick Grimes or our group in such a desperate, frightened .or broken state.

Even when we ended season 4 trapped in a train car in Terminus, Rick reassured the group and us that they were screwing with the wrong people. We left season 6 with no such assurances. Instead we were left heartbroken that one of our group was getting beaten by a baseball bat while the rest watched.

"The next season is a very different Walking Dead from the one we are accustomed to. I think that people will enjoy that the show continues to change direction and doesn’t just deliver the same thing over and over again. (Via Express)"

When talking about dealing with the comic book vs. the show, it sounds like they will continue to mix things up the way they have in the past where some things will stay true to the books and others will flip or go in new directions.

"I don’t think we would be doing the material justice if we just regurgitated it word for word. There are iconic moments, and there are things that we will pay tribute to, and even if we don’t do it exactly the same way that we find it in the comic book, we will find a way for fans of the graphic novel to feel like they are getting their money’s worth. Nicotero also addressed his pride in the cast and crew and said things have the possibility of going a long time.

"“I love that we show up for work every day as if it was our first day on the job. That level of commitment from the cast and crew keeps the spirit of the show alive. As long as that stays alive then we can keep it going for as long as we want it to go on. This is going to be a really exciting season, there’s some great stuff coming up and the scripts are awesome. I love hearing about the commitment and passion of the cast and crew. I’ve heard similar sentiments from some of the walker actors I’ve talked to online and in person as well as actors I’ve interviewed. They use nothing but superlatives when it comes to the quality of people The Walking Dead attracts and uses in the production of the show.

I hope it reinvents itself right into a new phase of phenomenal undeadness.
